Fine Original Artwork – Sheri Creates Art

Artistic Inspiration
I was born in Victoria and spent much of my life living and working in different countries around the world. These nomadic experiences shape my art and can be seen in the exploratory process, a love of colour, and a deep connection to nature. In 2018, I returned to Canada and settled in Gibsons, BC, where the surrounding landscape continues to inspire my work.
I seek to capture the essence of life and death by painting the rhythms found in nature. Abstract ideas move across the canvas as I explore the balance between stillness and motion.
When I’m not in the studio you can find me walking the local trails in the sunshine coast with her dog, working at the SPIDER Elementary school in Roberts Creek or volunteering at the local art gallery.
Teaching Philosophy
Largely self-taught, I have learned with a variety of instructors over the years. This knowledge and experimentation allows me share my experience as a facilitator, encouraging others to create with childlike wonder and developing their artistic voice.
Studio and Recognition
I have been blessed to be featured as a guest artist on An Artist in The House, a national television broadcast, and received the Sunshine Coast Writers Society People’s Choice Award for Best Painting at the 2024 Art and Words Festival. My work has been featured in the anthology Not an Island and on the cover of Snippets in a Small Town, a book celebrating life on the BC coast.
