Sheri Peters

Fine Original Artwork – Sheri Creates Art

Artistic Inspiration

Sheri works mainly in mixed media – using acrylic, using oil, watercolor, ink, collage, pastel, graphite and glazes to create paintings rich in texture and atmosphere. Some have few elements, others involve many layers as she creates “beauty in chaos”. Working in stages she paints on many canvases / papers at a time following her intuition, exploring the unknown.

Born and raised in Canada she spent most of her adult life working in various countries around the world, and in 2018 settling in the small port-side town of Gibsons BC where she draws inspiration from the nature around her.

Hiking the trails and beaches with her dog allows quiet times of reflection that continue to nurture her spirit, connecting her to the divine as she seeks to capture the rhythm of life in her paintings. She states”Within these rhythms (of life), there exists a subtle thread that binds us collectively to the invisible world – guiding us as we navigate this dance, until the music stops”

Using abstraction, stillness and movement show up in her work creating a balance found within nature. This movement invites viewers to pause and reflect on this delicate interplay and discover their own connection to the unseen rhythms of life.

Teaching Philosophy

Mainly a self taught artist she studied with a range of instructors throughout the years. She now shares her knowledge as a facilitator and painter, encouraging others to create artwork from a place of childlike wonder, and exploration – nurturing creativity to support others to explore their artistic voice.
