I create abstract, nature-focused paintings that are rich in texture, aiming to connect viewers with their sense of time and place. My work invites viewers to pause and reflect, offering them a moment to become immersed in the impression left by each piece.

Sources of Inspiration

The inspiration for my art stems from the natural world around me and my personal experiences as a dive-master and proprietor of an eco-lodge on the slopes of a volcano in Nicaragua. In 2018 I returned to BC and a small port-side town which continues to nurture these quiet times of reflection, particularly as I walk the trails with my dog. These moments continue to inform my artistic perspective, deepening my relationship with the environment as I can become quite immersed in the beauty of the Coast.

Artistic Process

In my paintings, I explore the essence of life, focusing on the connection and rhythm present in nature. I strive to capture the subtle thread that binds us collectively to the invisible world, guiding us as we navigate the balance between change and constancy, stillness and movement. My primary medium is acrylic, but I also incorporate collage, pastel, and glazes to build up each piece in layers. Over time, my process has evolved to include both simplified and highly detailed works on paper and canvas. This layering approach allows me to process my emotions and explore the world beyond words, drawing me closer to something greater than myself. Through this submission to beauty, fantasy, and the quirkiness found in everyday life, my art finds its voice.

My work is rich in texture, colour, and visual language, transporting viewers into a world beyond words. Through my art, I seek to connect nature and the transient qualities of existence, offering a space where viewers may contemplate the fleeting nature of things.
